Pixar 40th Anniversary 2026 Advent Calendar

The navy box is a family photo of Pixar characters. Woody tips his hat, Buzz stands ready, Sulley and Mike grin behind them, WALL-E and EVE peek out, and Nemo, Remy, Boo, Joy, Sadness, Merida and Miguel crowd into the frame. The little desk lamp shines from the top corner, and the yellow ball with the red star bounces nearby.

Forty Years of Pixar

Pixar became an independent company in February 1986, when Steve Jobs backed a small computer-graphics group spun out of Lucasfilm. That summer the team showed a two-minute short at a graphics conference: a desk lamp playing with a ball. Luxo Jr. proved that a computer-animated object could have feelings, and the lamp became the studio’s mascot.

Nine years later Toy Story became the first fully computer-animated feature film. Since then Pixar has given us films about toys, monsters, fish, robots, rats who cook, and the emotions inside our heads. The Pixar ball and lamp in this calendar are a nod to where it all began.

What the Designs Cover

• Toy Story: Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and Bo Peep.
• Monsters, Inc.: Sulley, Mike and Boo.
• Ocean and city friends: Lightning McQueen, Nemo, Dory, Remy, WALL-E, EVE and Carl from Up.
• More favourites: Russell, Merida, Miguel, Joy, Sadness, Joe Gardner and Mei.
• Pixar icons: the Luxo lamp, the star ball and a 40th-anniversary badge.

Each window holds a flat acrylic ornament printed on both sides. The layout with numbers lets you see the cast together; it does not reflect which character sits behind which window.

Box and Ornament Details

• Box: 18 cm tall, 13.5 cm wide and 3 cm deep (135 g), with 24 perforated numbered windows.
• Ornaments: about 3.2 cm across, printed on both faces, one matte and one gloss.
• Hanging: each piece has a small hole for a hook or ribbon.
• First use: peel the clear film from both sides before hanging.

A Family Countdown

Pixar films are made to be watched together, and this calendar works the same way. Open a window each morning, then pick that character’s film for a weekend movie night. Grandparents who saw Toy Story in cinemas and children meeting Joy and Sadness for the first time can share the same tree.
