This Privacy Policy explains what personal information ChristGiftUs collects when you visit christgiftus.com or place an order, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

1. Who we are

ChristGiftUs is an online gift store operating christgiftus.com. For the purposes of data protection law we are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. Our postal address is 378 S Teller St, Lakewood, CO 80226, United States, and you can reach us at [email protected].

2. Information you give us

We collect the information you enter yourself:

  • Order details — name, delivery address, billing address, email address and phone number.
  • Personalization content — the names, dates, messages and photographs you submit to be printed on a product.
  • Messages to support — anything you send us through the contact form, by email or by phone, including your order number and the content of your message.
  • Newsletter sign-up — your email address, if you choose to subscribe.
  • Blog comments — the name, email address and comment text you submit, along with your IP address and browser user agent, which are used for spam detection.

We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Payment is handled by Stripe and PayPal, which collect your payment information directly and hold it under their own privacy policies. We receive only confirmation that a payment succeeded, together with the billing name and address needed for the order.

3. Information we collect automatically

When you browse the Site, our server and our shop software record technical information: IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, the pages you view, and the date and time of each request. This is standard web server activity and is used to keep the Site working, to keep your cart and wishlist attached to your session, and to detect abuse.

4. Cookies we use

A cookie is a small file stored by your browser. We use three kinds.

Strictly necessary cookies, set by us, which the Site cannot work without:

  • wp_woocommerce_session_* — keeps your shopping cart and checkout details attached to your session.
  • wcboost_wishlist_hash — remembers the wishlist of a visitor who is not signed in.
  • wcboost_compare_hash — remembers the products you have added to the comparison list.

Analytics cookies, set by Google Analytics, which tell us how many people visit, which pages they read and where they arrived from. These typically include _ga and _ga_*, and we read them only in aggregate.

Advertising cookies, set by the Meta Pixel, which let us measure the results of our advertising and reach people who have already visited the Site. These typically include _fbp and fr.

Analytics and advertising cookies are not necessary for the Site to work, and you can refuse them without losing any shop function.

5. Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop your cart, wishlist and comparison list from working, and you may be unable to complete an order. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies has no effect on shopping.

You can also opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s opt-out browser add-on, and change how Meta uses your data in the ad preferences of your Facebook or Instagram account. If you would prefer that we stop processing your data for advertising altogether, email us and we will action it.

6. How we use your information

  • To produce, package and deliver your order, including passing your address to a carrier.
  • To print the personalization you have asked for on the product.
  • To send you transactional messages: order confirmation, production and dispatch updates, and tracking details.
  • To answer your questions and handle returns, replacements and refunds.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorized access.
  • To measure how the Site and our advertising perform.
  • To keep accounting records and meet our tax and legal obligations.
  • To send marketing emails, where you have asked to receive them.

7. Legal bases for processing

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases. Performance of a contract for everything needed to accept, produce and deliver your order. Legal obligation for accounting, tax and consumer protection records. Consent for marketing emails and, where the law requires it, for analytics and advertising cookies; you can withdraw consent at any time. Legitimate interests for keeping the Site secure, preventing fraud, and improving our products and service, balanced against your rights.

8. When we share your information

We share personal information only where it is needed:

  • With the warehouse or production partner that makes your order.
  • With shipping carriers, so your parcel can be delivered and tracked.
  • With payment providers, so your payment can be processed.
  • With analytics and advertising providers, as described in sections 10 and 11.
  • With our hosting and email providers, who process data on our behalf under contract.
  • Where the law requires it, or to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
  • If our business is sold or reorganized, in which case your information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

9. Service providers we rely on

The main third parties that process personal information for us are:

  • Stripe and PayPal — payment processing.
  • Google (Google Analytics) — website measurement.
  • Meta (Meta Pixel) — advertising measurement and audiences.
  • Mailchimp — newsletter delivery.
  • UPS and other carriers, plus the tracking service 17TRACK — delivery and tracking.
  • Our web host, and our production and fulfilment partners.

Each of these acts under its own privacy policy for the data it holds in its own right.

10. Analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand how the Site is used: visitor numbers, which pages are read, which products are viewed, and which sources bring people to us. Google processes this data on our behalf and also for its own purposes under its own privacy policy.

We use the Meta Pixel to measure whether our advertising on Facebook and Instagram leads to orders, and to reach people who have shown interest in our products. The pixel sends Meta an identifier for your browser together with the action you took, such as viewing a product or completing a purchase.

Both tools set the cookies described in section 4, and both can be refused without affecting your ability to shop. We do not use them to make decisions that produce a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

11. Sale or sharing of personal information

We do not sell your personal information for money.

However, the Meta Pixel described in section 10 sends identifiers to Meta so that advertising can be measured and targeted. Under California law, and under several other US state privacy laws, that transfer counts as sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising, and it can fall within the broad statutory definition of a sale even though no money changes hands.

You can opt out at any time by refusing advertising cookies in your browser, by sending a Global Privacy Control signal as described in section 20, or by emailing [email protected] and asking us to stop. We do not knowingly share the personal information of anyone under 16 for advertising.

12. Marketing emails

We only send marketing emails to people who have asked for them. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect for all future marketing. Transactional messages about an order you have placed are not marketing and will still be sent.

13. International transfers

We ship worldwide and we produce orders in the United States, Asia and Europe. Your order details are therefore sent to whichever warehouse and carrier handle your parcel, which may be in a different country from the one you live in. Where personal information is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, we rely on an appropriate transfer mechanism, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

14. How long we keep your information

Order and transaction records are kept for as long as we need them to fulfil the order, handle any dispute, and meet accounting and tax requirements. Support correspondence is kept while it may still be relevant to a claim. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Personalization files are kept only as long as needed to produce and reprint the item. Analytics and advertising data is retained for the period set in our Google and Meta accounts. When information is no longer needed we delete it or make it anonymous.

15. How we protect your information

The Site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, access to the shop’s administration is restricted to a small number of accounts, and payment card details never reach our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold.

16. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it where we are not required to keep it, or stop sending you marketing. Email [email protected] and we will respond within the period required by the law that applies to you. We may need to verify your identity before acting, usually by confirming details of an order you placed.

17. EEA and UK privacy rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to restrict processing, to object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests, and to receive the information you gave us in a portable, machine-readable form. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing carried out before you withdrew it. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority, although we would be grateful for the chance to resolve the matter first.

18. California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the purposes for which we collected them, and the categories of third parties we disclosed them to. You may request deletion or correction, and you may not be treated differently for exercising these rights. You also have the right to opt out of the sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, which is described in section 11, and the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information, although we do not collect data in that category. Requests can be sent to [email protected].

19. Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

20. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Browsers differ in how they send Do Not Track signals and there is no agreed standard for interpreting them, so we do not respond to DNT headers.

We do treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a valid request to opt out of the sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, for the browser that sends it.

21. Links to other sites

The Site links to services we do not control, including carrier tracking pages, review platforms and social media. Following one of those links takes you to a site governed by its own privacy policy, and we are not responsible for how it handles your information.

22. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our business or the law changes. The revised version takes effect when it is posted here, and the date at the top shows when it was last changed. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will make that clear.
