Some calendars sell spectacle. This one sells the small end of December: fairy lights strung along a shelf, a wreath on a door that has needed painting since spring, a kid who will not put the toy down. The front is a village scene rather than a product shot — evergreen branches, gift boxes, numbered signs propped in the snow, and holiday lights running through it. Nothing on the box is shouting about how festive it intends to be, which is unusual and rather the point. It suits a house where the decorations go up gradually and stay modest.

What Comes in the Box

A paper outer box, 13.5 x 18 x 3 cm and 135 g, with a moulded plastic tray inside keeping twenty-four acrylic pieces in separate slots. Die-cut dotted lines outline each window so a door lifts under a thumbnail.

The pieces are 3.2 x 3.2 cm, printed on both faces — one matte, one gloss — with a hanging tab punched through. One face arrives under a protective film that needs peeling before display.

Small enough for a kitchen shelf, a bedside table or the hall, which is where a calendar actually gets opened — somewhere passed every morning rather than somewhere ceremonial. The pieces then need a home: a branch in a jug, a ribbon down the banister, the tree once the tree is up.

Looking After the Ornaments

A dry cloth is all acrylic wants. Damp cloths and sprays leave a haze that does not polish out, and on a pale printed piece it shows. Come January, the moulded tray is the right storage — back in their slots, the tabs stay straight and the printed faces stay off each other.

Questions Buyers Ask

Can the windows be closed again?

No — die-cut doors open once and stay open, so the box lasts one season. The twenty-four ornaments are the part that comes back out next year.

Are the ornaments safe for a child to hang?

They are light, flat and not sharp, with a punched tab rather than a wire hook. Old enough to hang a decoration on a branch is old enough for these; below that, they are small parts.
