H&M Rugby Lover 2026 Advent Calendar

For rugby fans, the next two years are a build-up. The Rugby World Cup comes to Australia in October 2027, the first edition with 24 teams, and the England women’s side are still celebrating a home world title. The H&M Rugby Lover 2026 Advent Calendar gives the wait a December routine: 24 numbered doors over a floodlit stadium, each hiding a design from the game.

A Game With a Story

Rugby’s founding legend says that in 1823 a pupil at Rugby School in England, William Webb Ellis, picked up the ball during a football match and ran with it. Historians treat the story with caution, since it rests on a single account written decades later, but it stuck, and the sport’s greatest prize, the Webb Ellis Cup, has carried his name since the first men’s Rugby World Cup in 1987.

The modern game keeps giving fans reasons to care. On September 27, 2025 England beat Canada 33–13 at Twickenham to win the Women’s Rugby World Cup in front of 81,885 people, a record crowd for women’s rugby. The men’s tournament heads to Australia from October 1 to November 13, 2027, opening in Perth with a new 24-team format: six pools of four, a round of 16 and 52 matches in all.

Making December a Rugby Month

Rugby families tend to live by the fixture list, and an advent calendar fits that rhythm. Set the box on a shelf near the TV where the autumn internationals are watched, let a different person open each day’s door, and hang the pieces on the tree as they come out.
