Kansas City Chiefs 66th Anniversary Christmas 2026 Advent Calendar

The Chiefs spent their first three seasons in Dallas, as the Texans, competing for a city that already had an NFL team and losing that argument. They moved to Kansas City in 1963 and found the place that suited them. Sixty-six seasons on, Arrowhead is the loudest building in the sport by actual measurement.

From the Texans to Arrowhead

1960 was the AFL’s first year, and the Texans were one of its eight founding clubs — which is why the count runs to sixty-six rather than sixty-three. Anniversary boxes usually get built around silverware; this one is built around the start, which covers the long stretch before the silverware arrived as well as the recent years when it would not stop.

How It Works

Twenty-four die-cut windows over a moulded plastic tray, with an acrylic ornament in each compartment. The pieces are 3.2 cm square, printed on both faces — one matte, one gloss — and each has a hanging tab punched through the acrylic rather than stuck on.

The outer box is paper, 13.5 x 18 x 3 cm, 135 g. A protective film covers one face of every ornament and comes off before hanging.

Adding the Name

The name entered at checkout prints into the front artwork at production. It is the detail that turns a team box into a particular person’s December.

Keeping It Going

Somewhere with a lamp nearby suits it — the gloss face is there to catch light, and a box lit only from the ceiling wastes half the print. Indoors, away from radiators. A dry cloth is the only cleaning the pieces want; damp leaves a haze on acrylic that never lifts.

Were the Chiefs really a Dallas team?

For three seasons. They played as the Dallas Texans from 1960 before moving to Kansas City in 1963 and taking the current name.

Does the box need a stand?

No — at 3 cm deep it sits upright on a shelf or a counter on its own.

What happens if I open two doors by mistake?

Nothing beyond losing a day of anticipation. The numbering is a guide, not a lock, and plenty of households run ahead and then wait.

Can the ornaments be hung on a garland?

Yes, indoors. They are light enough that a garland along a mantel takes several without sagging.
