Twenty-four characters, one per December day

The front panel says “24 Unique Characters”, and that is the format: a different acrylic ornament behind each numbered window, in a deep blue snowy mountain setting with decorated trees and wrapped presents.

The artwork

Materials and measurements

• Paper outer box with a moulded plastic inner tray.
• 24 acrylic (mica) ornaments, one behind each numbered window.
• Box: 13.5 x 18 x 3 cm, 135 g.
• Each ornament: 3.2 x 3.2 cm, with a perforated hanging tab.
• Double-sided print: one matte face, one glossy face.
• Die-cut dotted lines on every window.

Peel the protective film off the glossy face before you hang an ornament, or the print looks cloudy. Wipe them with a soft dry cloth; do not soak them.

Collecting the set

Branded advent calendars usually end as an empty box. Because these are acrylic rather than foil-wrapped confectionery, the 24 characters survive the month and can go back on a tree next year, which is the practical argument for this over a drinks calendar.
